Thank you, Olivia!

I DID IT! The “BIG CHOP” yesterday…Here’s the story.

I’ve wanted to go natural for a while now…but I just didn’t think I could do it. I was afraid of how I would look with short hair…didn’t know how I would style it…but in September, I decided to do it. But my plan was to just stop getting perms, let my hair grow out and then cut it off. Well…I held strong to not getting perms. But not only did that stress me out but my hair decided to pack up and leave. LOL. Slowly it started breaking off due to the fact that I wore a ponytail all of the time and the fact that I was always putting heat on it to try and get it a little more manageable.

March rolled around pretty darn quick and I decided I just couldn’t take it anymore. So I went to the salon to get my hair done. When I walked in I had no idea what I was going to do. I didn’t plan on cutting it all off…I still didn’t have the guts. But due to the breakage I knew it was going to be tricky.

My hairdresser (Tina) was carrying on a conversation with a little girl and her mother and immediately started parting my hair for a relaxer. I stopped her and told her that I wasn’t getting a relaxer. She basically told me that my options were a relaxer or to cut it..once again…because of the breakage.

So here I go…freaking out and I was about 2 seconds from accepting the relaxer! I didn’t have time to really mentally prepare. I didn’t think it was that bad. ME? With short hair? PFFT!

I’m not sure who or what it was but….

The little girl’s name was Olivia. Olivia who is 8 years old was diagnosed with Leukemia in October of 2010 and is currently going through treatment. (She’s so adorable) They told her to give me some advice. And she said I should do it. I was still freaking out. LOL. She was even brave enough to take off her wig for me so that I could see what she looked like without it. What more is there to say besides THANK YOU, OLIVIA!

If Olivia hadn’t been there, I probably wouldn’t have cut my hair. As a matter of fact, I’m 99% sure that I would have gotten a relaxer and forgotten all about the last 6 months of my journey. It may not be a big deal for most people but it’s a huge deal for me.

With that being said…Olivia helped me and I intend to do what I can to help her. And if I can’t do anything else I can atleast spread the word and hope that others are willing to help as well. I’m posting a link to her facebook page. All of their info is posted there. Find a dollar in your pocket? Send it to Olivia. She deserves it.

Coming soon…

Well…it has once again been a while since my last post. Gonna try this again. On the plus side I do have a list of topics to write about. 🙂  I’m currently just testing my new tablet…seeing as how this will probably be how I will be posting on here most of the time.
Anywho…I look forward to seeing you all real soon.
